Discover Winterton-on-Sea: Norfolk’s Hidden Gem
Winterton-on-Sea is a true hidden gem, one of Norfolk’s best-kept secrets. It’s been described as “one of the great natural beauty-spots of the area” and “a very pleasant place to spend a holiday.”
Our Chalet has recently undergone refurbishment and modernisation, carefully preserving some of its traditional features to maintain authenticity. Situated on the Winterton Valley Estate, it’s just a short stroll to the sandy dunes and the beach.
Take a brief walk to the nearby village, where you can savor lunch at the Fisherman’s Return, a 300-year-old freehouse known for its excellent pub fare. Alternatively, you can indulge in some award-winning fish and chips from the Winterton Fish Bar, probably the best chippy in Norfolk. If you fancy a hot beverage, stop by Poppy’s Tearoom after a long beach walk.
If you want to venture further afield, you can explore the Norfolk Broads, a National Park with over 125 miles of navigable waterways. You can rent boats for the day and explore this unique landscape.
Make sure to include seal watching in your itinerary. Horsey Gap is a great place to observe seals during the winter months, while Blakeney Seal Trips provide viewing opportunities during the spring and summer.
